War can shatter even the best of dreams, the greatest of loves.  The Walkers--Frank, Gordon, and their wives, Virginia and Elaine--have made a good life for themselves in Newport, Kentucky post World War II.  But, when their brother Charlie, whom they haven't heard from in fifteen years, suddenly returns, their happy life will be ripped apart.  Everything--past and future, happiness and sorrow, right and wrong--will be called into question.
