, 859-572-1427 Objective: Students will learn various hands on skill and job responsibilities involved in producing theatrical productions. Format: Students are assigned various production assignments including: performance, running crews, scenery construction, lighting crew, costume construction crew, properties crew, sound board operator, light board operator, follow spot operator, and design. Requirements: 1. Complete 2 production assignments each worth 30 hours. (Note: any run crew, performance, stagemanagment that directly deals with rehearsals or performance is automatically worth 30 hours. Scenery Construction, Costume Construction log in hours totally 30 hrs per assignment. Note: A total non participation in one of 2 assignments is an automatic F 2. Participation in all strikes. Failure to participate in strikes deducts 15 points from your final grade for each strike missed. Strikes typicall run from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Strike Roster usually posted by Thursday prior to strike. Srike Dates: Much Ado About Nothing - Oct. 11, Rhinoceros - Nov 8, Titanic - Dec. 13.
Assessment - Completion of Assingment/Hrs = 60 pts., Attitude/Initiative - 40 pts. Grade Scale: 93 - 100 - A, 90-92 - A minus, 87 - 89 - B plus, 84 - 86 - B, 80-83 - B minus, 77-79 - C plus, 74 - 76 - C,
Timeline: Friday Aug, 28 by 4:30 PM - Crew Request Sheets filled out (See Production Hour Request From on online callboard), Friday Sept. 4 - Crew Positions Posted - Initialing your acceptance will siginify your committment to assignment and agreement to syllabus. By end of the day Friday Sept. 9 if you are working on a scenery or costume construction crew you must contact that area to setup a work schedule.
Notes about production positions. 1. Cast Members - You will be given a rehearsal and performance schedule. You will need to atten required rehearsals and performances being prepared. Failure do do so will impact your grade. 2. Running Crew Members - You will be contacted by the production stage manager regarding specific times and dates for the show you have been assigned. Showing up on time, being prepared, being appropriately dressed in black clothing, and willing to work with a positive attitude is crucial to getting a good grade. Failure to do so will impact your grade. 3. Lighting Crew Members - Your work will be take place approximately 2 weeks prior to technical rehearsals. The master electrician for the production will contact you regarding scheduling. 4. Scene Shop Assignments - You are responsible for getting your hours done and logging them in the required log sheet in the scene shop. All production hour work for scene shop assignments must be done by opening day of Titanic, Dec. 3. 5 Costume Shop Assignments - Like the scene shop you are responsible for getting your hours done. You will need to make arrangments with the costume shop to set up your schedule.
